How does the email scan work?

Connect your email account (Gmail or Outlook) via secure OAuth. CostGuard uses read-only access to scan for subscription-related emails and surfaces every recurring charge it finds. We never store your emails or read personal messages.

Is my inbox safe to connect?

Yes. Access is strictly read-only — we cannot send, modify, or delete any emails. We only look for subscription receipts and billing emails. Nothing is stored after the scan completes.

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through the App Store or Google Play. Go to your device's subscription settings and cancel from there. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period.

Why isn't CostGuard detecting a subscription?

Some subscriptions may be missed if the billing emails go to a different inbox or spam folder. Try scanning that inbox too. You can also manually add any subscription via the "+" button on the home screen.

How do renewal reminders work?

CostGuard sends push notifications before a detected subscription renews. You can configure how many days in advance to be notified in Settings → Notifications.

Can I use CostGuard without connecting my email?

Yes. You can manually add and track subscriptions without connecting an email account. Email scanning is optional and only used to auto-detect recurring charges from your inbox.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play Store per their respective policies. For App Store purchases, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. For Play Store, visit the Google Play Help Center.

How do I revoke email access or delete my account?

To revoke email access, go to Settings → Connected Accounts and disconnect your inbox. To delete your account entirely, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. You can also email us at support@costguard.app and we'll process it within 72 hours.
